CJI Bids Farewell To Justice R.Subhash Reddy, Commends His Ethical Conduct

Justice Ramayyagari Subhash Reddy was the first judge from Telangana State to become a Supreme Court Judge after the new state came into being.
Said the Chief Justice of Indi, Justice NV Ramana on Tuesday during Justice Reddy farewell from the ceremonial bench. He further said that Justice Subhash Reddy is known for his compassion and consciousness about social realities, throughout his tenure as a Judge for 20 years in different high courts and Supreme Court of India, he always upheld and protected the people’s liberty.
He has penned down more than 100 judgements.

Justice Reddy born In the Year 1957 In an Agricultural Family in Kamaram Village of Chinna Shankarampet Mandal, Medak District.
had his primary education in upper primary school and higher education in zilla parishad high school, Sankarampet, Medak district. passed intermediate and graduation from Andhra Vidyalaya college (av college), Hyderabad. obtained law degree from the university college of law, Osmania university, Hyderabad.
enrolled as an advocate on the rolls of the bar council of Andhra Pradesh on 30/10/1980 and joined the chambers of Justice b. Subhasan Reddy (as advocate as he then was).
actively practised in civil, criminal, constitutional and almost all other branches of law. had developed his independent practice with in short span of time and extensively dealt with number of cases covering all branches of law.
deeply interested in philosophy, culture, music and education.
was standing counsel for premier institutions like s.v. university and Jawaharlal Nehru technical university etc.
elected unanimously as the president of the ap high court advocates association for the year 2001-2002.
elevated as additional judge of high court of andhra pradesh on 02.12.2002.
sworn in as judge of high court of a.p. w.e.f. 24.06.2004.
continued as judge of the high court of judicature at Hyderabad till 12th February 2016.
elevated as chief justice, high court of Gujarat on 13th February 2016.
elevated as judge, supreme court of India on 2nd November 2018.
At the farewell function organised by the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), justice Reddy highlighted the need to update procedural laws to meet the needs of changing times, especially to reduce pendency in the courts.
He further said that time consuming procedures in civil or criminal prescribed in 19th Century for the trial of cases in the pre-Industrial society need to be modernised to suit the needs of modern society…unless we come up with comprehensive planning and giving time lines for disposal of cases, the present system may not work for the present and future needs. This is high time for all stakeholders in the system to think seriously to bring drastic reforms keeping in mind the present-day needs of the society. He stated.
Attorney General of India KK Venugopal, Solicitor General of India Tushar Mehta and Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA)president Vikas Singh and others also spoke at the occasion.
AG KK Venugopal said that it is a sad day that Justice Reddy is Going to Retire, had an extensive career before Andhra Pradesh High Court and Supreme Court.
SCBA President Vikas Singh said that “it is a sad moment when a judge retires, especially someone who has been so popular amongst the Bar. He has all qualities that Bar wants from a Judge He gives respect to members of the Bar. He is not persuaded by public opinion and goes by the brief.
