In the absence of regular checking by officials of the Health Department, the practice of selling eatables in an unhygienic condition is going on unabated in the city, A comprehensive survey by our reporters have revealed that one can suffer from food-borne diseases such as food poisoning, viral infection, jaundice, gastrointestinal problems cholera and typhoid.
Apart from these the food preparation sites as well as the practice is also a matter of concern there was a big incident in 2013 in Secunderabad where in an early morning tragedy a building had collapsed due to the negligence of the Owner as well as the Municipal authorities, a well-known hotel “City Light “the building collapsed due to the heavy cooking activities on the first floor.
Presently in Old City several Hotels are now practicing the same cooking style as adopted by “City Light” Hotel earlier. Presently in Bhavani Nagar, Moghul Pura, Charminar, Mirchowck there are many Hotels where Biryani, Nahari, and other food delicacies are being served to the customers without abiding to the fire safety norms and GHMC labor laws. to keep an eye on 20,000 eateries in and around City.
It is observed that Hotel Managements are either using the Cellars or Top roofs for preparation of the food.
A comprehensive survey conducted by our team of reporters have further revealed that the GHMC and Fire Department has deliberately turned a blind eye to this dangerous and unlawful activities of the Hotel Owners.
Our team has conducted Survey in Charminar, Chandrayangutta, Bahadurpura, Yakut Pura Moghalpura, Bhavani agar, Mirchowck Localities and found that there are neither fire safety equipment in order nor GHMC rules being implemented.
It is high time that the officials from the concerned departments should come forward and take an initiative to avoid “City Light Hotel” Like Situation in the above-mentioned constituencies and areas.
