In a major breakthrough, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested two individuals, including an Inspector from the Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN) stationed in Chittorgarh, Rajasthan, and a private middleman, for their involvement in a high-profile bribery case. The arrests follow the demand and acceptance of a bribe amounting to Rs. 3 lakhs, as part of a broader corrupt scheme to resolve a narcotics-related investigation.

On November 20, 2024, the CBI registered a case against the accused Inspector and several unidentified accomplices after the complainant alleged that the Inspector initially sought a bribe of Rs. 20 lakhs for influencing the disposal of a case involving the complainant and his clinic. The demand was later reduced to Rs. 8 lakhs, signalling the start of an elaborate trap operation by the CBI.

As part of the investigation, the CBI set up a sting operation, which led to the dramatic capture of a middleman accepting a sum of Rs. 3 lakhs on behalf of the Inspector. This key moment led to the arrest of both the middleman and the Inspector, exposing their role in the corrupt dealings.

The CBI, acting swiftly, conducted searches at the residences and official premises of the Inspector in Chittorgarh and Bikaner. These raids unearthed significant incriminating documents that are expected to play a crucial role in the ongoing investigation.

The case highlights a disturbing trend of corruption within key law enforcement agencies, and the CBI has vowed to continue its thorough investigation into all involved parties. As the probe unfolds, more details are expected to emerge, shedding light on the broader network of corruption within the Central Bureau of Narcotics.
