The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday rebuuted the charges levelled by Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on the death of its officer and also termed it mischievous and misleading’ in nature.

Amid a continuing war of words between Aam Admi Party (AAP) and Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) over the now defunct excise policy in the national Capital, Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia dropped a bombshell linking the suicide of an officer of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) earlier last week.

On Monday Manish Sisodia claimed that CBI officer Jitendra Kumar, who was the deputy legal advisor with anti-corruption branch of CBI, committed suicide as he was being pressured to frame false case against him for arrest.Sisodia further said that he was being unfairly pressurised to illegally sanction my arrest in a fraudulent manner, which he did not approve.

Today, on 05.09.22, in a Press Conference held by Manish Sisodia, one of the FIR-named accused in Case RC No. 53/2022 dated 17.08.22 pertaining to Delhi Excise Policy for year 2021-22, stated that Jitendra Kumar, Deputy Legal Advisor in CBI committed suicide because he was pressurized to make a strong false case against him.CBI strongly refutes this mischievous and misleading statement by Sisodia. It is clarified that the gentleman officer Late Jitendra Kumar was in no way connected with the investigation of this case. He was Deputy Legal Advisor in-charge of prosecution; in which capacity he was supervising prosecutors who are conducting the trial of already charge-sheeted cases in Delhi. Further, as per the Delhi Police, which is conducting inquest into the death, the officer has not held anyone responsible for his death in his suicide note. The Excise policy case is under investigation. As such no clean chit has been given to any of the accused. The mischievous and misleading statement of Sisodia is an attempt to divert attention from the on-going investigation in Delhi Excise Policy case, and also amounting to interference in the inquest proceedings into the death of the gentleman officer.
