Hyderabad,9, April,2025. The Hon’ble Special Judge for CBI Cases in Hyderabad has sentenced Shri Kolla Ramakotaiah, the former Sub-Post Master of the MIG Colony Sub-Post Office in BHEL, R.C. Puram, to 2 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) along with a fine of Rs. 80,000. This sentence follows his conviction in a case involving the misappropriation of public funds.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had initiated the case on December 15, 2008, based on a written complaint lodged by the then Assistant Director of Postal Services at the Office of the Post Master General, Hyderabad Region. The complaint alleged that between 2003 and 2007, the accused had embezzled Rs. 79.79 lakh by misappropriating cash deposits made by various account holders into their respective accounts. Instead of recording the deposits in the official postal records, the accused allegedly made entries only in the passbooks, thereby misleading the Postal Department.
Following a thorough investigation, the CBI filed a chargesheet on April 30, 2010, against Shri Kolla Ramakotaiah. After a comprehensive trial, the court found the accused guilty of the charges, leading to the sentencing.
The case serves as a significant example of accountability within government departments, highlighting the consequences of financial misconduct.
