CBI Arrests Three Officials of Customs Department in A Bribery Case of Rs. Four Lakh, And Recovers Cash of Rs. 20 Lakh (Approx.) During Searches

The Central Bureau of Investigation
has arrested two Superintendents/Senior Intelligence Officers and an
Inspector/Intelligence Officer, all of Customs (SIIB), ICD(Import), Tuglakabad,
New Delhi in a bribery case of Rs. Four lakhs.
A case was
registered on a complaint against the said public servants. The Complainant (an
Authorised Signatory) of a private Company had alleged that the accused
demanded bribe of Rs. 15 lakhs for clearing the consignment of open cells (TV
Screens) imported by his company and additional bribe @ Rs. 50,000/- per
container cleared in last four months. Later on, the accused allegedly agreed
to accept Rs 10 lakh in instalments and the first instalment of Rs. 4 lakhs were
to be paid.
CBI laid a trap
and caught a Superintendent/Senior Intelligence Officer, while demanding &
accepting the bribe of Rs. 4,00,000/- as first instalment from the complainant.
During investigation, other two accused (a Superintendent/Senior Intelligence
Officer & an Inspector/Intelligence Officer) were also arrested.
Searches were conducted at the
premises of accused in Delhi/NCR which led to recovery of cash and
incriminating documents. A cash of Rs. 11 lakhs (approx.) from a
Superintendent and Rs. 09 lakh (approx.) from another Superintendent were also
recovered during searches.
The arrested accused are being produced before the
Competent Court
