CBI Arrests Safdarjung Hospital Neurosurgeon Dr. Manish Rawat,4 Others Over Kickbacks Charges From Medical Equipment Supplier

New Delhi 30. March, 2023: The Central Bureau of Investigation on Thursday arrested a Neurosurgeon and his four accomplices for allegedly forcing patients into buying surgical equipment from a particular establishment at exorbitant prices. A press release issued from CBI mentioned today.
The CBI had registered a case on 29-03-2023 aginst the accused person on certain allegations including bribery and arrested him along with his four accomplices.
The agency raided several Delhi and utter Pradesh locations linked to Manish Rawat, the neurosurgeon, and busted the nefarious nexus , they said.
The CBI investigation exposed that the Doctor took bribes of Rs 1,15,000, Rs55,000 and Rs,30,0000 in three separate cases recently form the relative of the patients with the help of a middleman.
The money was sent back from the middleman’s account to the Doctor’s account. This was done by the instructions of the Doctor.
The doctor is also said to be involved in the money laundering through companies being managed by middleman.
Immediately after his arrest Rawat underwent a medical examination at the same time on Thursday.
The arrested persons have been produced before the Duty Magistrate and taken into remand. Now the CBI is questioning him about other people involved in the case.
The arrest was a planned action by the CBI, after a tip-off.
CBI received the complaints from the patients with regards to the doctor’s unprofessional attitude.
A team of CBI reached the operation theatre of Safdargunj Hospital in the Delhi and asked all the Doctors present in the theatre to co-operate with agency.
Some other staff of the Hospital was also present at the time of arrest of Rawat.
The Sadargunj Hospital authorities refused to disclose the details about the raid yet.
