CBI Arrests Railway SSE For Demanding Rs. 50,000 Bribe in Gonda, Uttar Pradesh

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Senior Section Engineer (SSE) from the Indian Railways, posted at the Truck Depot in Gonda, Uttar Pradesh, for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 50,000. The arrest was made on November 13, 2024, after the accused was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe from a complainant.

According to the complaint filed on November 11, 2024, the SSE had been demanding Rs. 100 per ton for loading materials from the Railway Material Depot. Over the past two months, approximately 500 tons of materials were loaded, with the accused threatening to disrupt the complainant’s work and cancel ongoing tenders if the bribe was not paid.

The CBI set up a trap and arrested the accused on November 13 while he was receiving the bribe amount. The accused will be produced before the Special Judge, Anti-Corruption Court in Lucknow on November 14. Searches are currently underway at the accused’s premises, and the investigation is ongoing.
