CBI Arrests an Accused in An On-Going Investigation Of A Case

The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested an accused (private person) in an on-going investigation of a case related to death of Junior Mridha. CBI had registered a case on 23.08.2019 on the orders dated 17.05.2019 of Calcutta High Court in W.P. No. 1594(W) of 2013 and taken over the investigation of FIR No. 292/2011 dated 13.7.2011, earlier registered at Police Station Baranagar (West Bengal) relating to death of Junior Mridha. It was alleged that on 12.07.2011, the complainant was informed that his nephew (only son of his elder brother) Junior Mridha, met with a road accident and was admitted to Baranagar State General Hospital. Accordingly, when they visited the said hospital, he found his nephew dead. However, they could not find any accidental injury on the dead body except one small hole near the backbone of the deceased. Further, it was alleged that they could not find any scratch on the bike which was involved in the accident. The complainant had further alleged that the whole incident appeared to be suspicious and unnatural death. As per the post-mortem examination report, it was revealed that the cause of death of the deceased was due to the effect of a gunshot injury. The arrested accused was produced before the Court of ACJM, Barrackpore, North 24-Parganas (West Bengal) and was remanded to 7 days Police Custody. |
