CBI Arrests a Sub Inspector of Police in Bribery Case

The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Sub Inspector, posted at Police Station Sector-34, Chandigarh for demanding & accepting bribe of Rs. 10,000/– from the Complainant.
CBI, on receipt of a complaint, registered a case against Sub-Inspector, Police Station Sector-34, Chandigarh. It was alleged that accused was demanding bribe of Rs.10,000/- from the complainant in lieu of removing his name from an FIR which was being investigated by said accused. It was further alleged that the complainant approached the accused in Police Station and informed her that he was not connected with the said FIR. On this, the accused allegedly demanded the bribe of Rs.10,000/- from the complainant for removing his name from the said FIR.
CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red handed while demanding & accepting bribe of Rs.10,000/-.
Searches were conducted at the official & residential premises of the accused including at Chandigarh, Patiala etc which led to recovery of some incriminating documents.
The arrested accused will be produced today in the Court of Special Judge, CBI cases, Chandigarh.
