/New Delhi, October 29, 2026: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday conducted extensive search operations at multiple locations in Pune in connection with an alleged ₹81.66-crore bank fraud involving M/s Aaj Ka Anand Papers Private Limited, its directors and unknown public servants.

The searches form part of an ongoing investigation into allegations of criminal conspiracy, cheating, criminal breach of trust, misappropriation of funds and manipulation of accounts, following a complaint lodged by the State Bank of India (SBI), Mumbai.

According to the allegations set out in the bank’s complaint, the accused persons caused a wrongful loss of ₹81.66 crore to SBI through the alleged suppression or misappropriation of business revenue, falsification of books of account and manipulation of electronic records.

Alleged Diversion of Funds Under CBI Scrutiny

The case centres on allegations that funds were diverted through current accounts maintained outside designated banking channels without obtaining the consent of consortium lenders, in alleged violation of the applicable sanction conditions.

The complaint further alleges that the accused engaged in the suppression of business receipts and the alteration or falsification of financial records, raising questions concerning the utilisation of borrowed funds and compliance with lending arrangements.

The alleged acts are being investigated for possible offences involving cheating, criminal breach of trust, misappropriation and criminal conspiracy.

The CBI registered the case against M/s Aaj Ka Anand Papers Private Limited, its directors and unknown public servants on the basis of SBI’s complaint.

Office and Residential Premises Searched

As part of the investigative exercise on October 29, the CBI searched several locations in Pune, including the company’s office premises and residential properties linked to its directors.

During the searches, investigators recovered incriminating documents and digital evidence considered relevant to the case.

The material is now being examined to establish the alleged financial trail, determine the extent of the suspected diversion and misappropriation of funds, and ascertain the respective roles of the persons involved.

The examination of documentary and electronic evidence is expected to assist investigators in reconstructing the transactions under scrutiny and assessing whether the alleged irregularities were part of a wider criminal conspiracy.

Investigation Continues

The CBI is continuing its investigation to establish the full extent of the alleged fraud, trace the movement of funds and identify the involvement, if any, of other persons in the transactions under investigation.

The agency has stated that further investigation is in progress.

The allegations remain subject to investigation and judicial determination. The conduct of searches and recovery of material do not, by themselves, establish the guilt of any accused person.
