Breaking: Centre Notifies Transfer of Justice Muralidhar From Delhi HC to P&H HC

The Central Government has today notified the transfer of Delhi High Court Judge Justice S. Muralidhar to Punjab & Haryana Court.
Last week the Supreme Court Collegium had intimated its proposal to transfer Justice S. Muralidhar from Delhi High Court to P& H High Court.
Notably, on his last day as a judge of Delhi High Court, Justice Muralidhar had passed significant orders in matters concerning Delhi Riots.
He had held a midnight hearing at his residence at12:30 AM on February 25, where a bench comprising Justice Muralidhar and Talwant Singh issued directions to police to ensure the safe passage of patients who had been trapped in Al Hind Hospital at riot-affected Mustafabad since 4 PM on February 24 to other hospitals with better facilities.
Later in the day, a bench comprising Justice Muralidhar and Justice Talwant Singh directed the Delhi Police to take a decision within a day regarding registration of FIR for inflammatory speeches against politicians such as Anurag Thakur, Pravesh Verma, Abhay Verma and Kapil Mishra, who had allegedly incited violence in Delhi.
The order was passed in a PIL filed by Harsh Mander, filed through Advocates Fazal Abdali Sneha Mukherjee and Nabila Hassan.Despite stiff opposition by Solicitor General Tushar Mehta,who had appeared for Delhi Police.

was enrolled as an Advocate on September 12, 1984. He has been practising in the High Court and Civil Courts in Chennai, Supreme Court of India and Delhi High Court in Civil,
Criminal, Constitutional, Labour, Election, Arbitration, Public Interest Litigation, Human Rights, Company, Taxation and Service matters for the last 20 years. His fields of specialisation are Constitutional, Election, PIL, Criminal and Human Rights Cases. He
worked as Counsel for Election Commission of India, National Human Rights Commission, Central Vigilance Commission and University Grants Commission and as Member of
Supreme Court Legal Services Committee from 2000-2004. He is a Member of Delhi State Legal Services Authority since May 2005. He was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Delhi High Court on May 29, 2006 and as a permanent Judge on August 29, 2007.
