(Judicial Quest News Network)
In a dramatic escalation of the Mahadev Book online betting scam, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has launched a major operation today, conducting searches at 60 locations across Chhattisgarh, Bhopal, Kolkata, and Delhi. Among the premises raided are properties linked to prominent politicians, senior bureaucrats, police officers, key operatives of Mahadev Book, and other private individuals suspected of involvement in the illicit betting network.
The case centres on the illegal operations of Mahadev Book, a notorious online betting platform allegedly run by Ravi Uppal and Saurabh Chandrakar, who are currently believed to be operating from Dubai. Investigations suggest that the promoters used a network of corrupt public servants, allegedly paying large sums as “protection money” to ensure the smooth running of their illegal operations across multiple regions.
Originally registered by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) in Raipur, the case was transferred to the CBI by the Government of Chhattisgarh for a thorough investigation into the involvement of high-ranking public officials and others complicit in the scheme.
During today’s raids, the CBI has seized incriminating digital and documentary evidence, with searches continuing across various locations. The investigation is expected to uncover more details about the scale of the illegal network and its connections with powerful figures in public office.
