AIMIM Leader Akberuddin Owaisi Acquitted By Hyderabad Court In Hate Speech Cases

The special session court for MP/MLAs at Nampally Metropolitan courts on Wednesday acquitted AIMIM floor leader Akberuddin Owaisi in two hate speech cases made at Nirmal and Nizamabad districts in 2012.
The Court was hearing a plea that clubbed multiple cases registered against Akberuddin Owaisi for alleged hate speeches delivered by him Nizamabad on December 22, 2012 and at Nirmal town on December, 22, 2012. He was also arrested and subsequently released on bail at the time.
In the First case Akeruddin had delivered a speech upon which the Nirmal town Police had booked the MLA and Nirmal town party president Azeem bin Yahiya under various IPC sections 120-B (Criminal Conspiracy), 153-A (Promoting enmity between two groups on the basis of religion),265 (A), (A deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs),298 (Deliberate intention of wounding the religious feelings of any person) and 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) and 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant).
The Crime Investigation Department (CID) investigated the Nizamabad case and filed the charge sheet in 2016, while the district police who probed the Nirmal case also submitted the charge sheet in the same year.
A total of 41 witnesses were examined in the Nizamabad case while 33 people were examined in the Nirmal case.
The court said that there was no ample evidence available with the prosecution to prove the charges against the legislator, hence resulting the acquittal,said MA Azeem counsel Akbaruddin Owaisi.
