AG KK Venugopal Grants Consent for Contempt of Court Against Ajeet Bharti for a Derogatory Video on Supreme Court

Attorney General of India KK Venugopal has granted consent for contempt of court proceedings against media personality Ajeet Bharti in connection with a YouTube video containing purportedly derogatory words against the Supreme Court of India.
This is the second instance of the Attorney General granting sanction against Bharti for his alleged derogatory video the Supreme Court and its Judges.
The consent under Section 15 of the Contempt of Court Act was granted on a letter sent by a lawyer, Pratik Kumar.
The Attorney General in his letter granting permission wrote:
“I find that the contents of the Video, which have been watched by1.7 lakh viewers are vituperative, gross and highly derogatory to the Supreme Court of India and judiciary as a whole and would seriously undermine the confidence that people have in the institution. I have already granted consent earlier for contempt to be initiated against him.
A-G KK Venugopal said that court bashing is becoming a past time for some.
In September 2021, the Attorney General had granted sanction to initiate criminal contempt of court against Bharti for another You Tube Video on a plea by Lawyer, Kritika Singh.
