After Gujarat, Patna Court Summons Rahul Gandhi on April 12, In Defamation of ‘Modi Surname ‘Case.

Patna 1. April, 2023: Senior leader of Bhartiya Janta Party and Rajya Sabha Member Mr. Sushil Modi filed a petition in Patna Court over Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s “Modi Surname” remark.
This might bring in a fresh challenge to the Congress and raises questions on the Congress charge that its leader’s disqualification from the Lok Sabha following his conviction in defamation suits a well-planned conspiracy against Rahul Ganghi.
During a political campaign in Kolar, in 2019, Rahul had linked prime Minister narendra Modi with fugitives like Nirav Modi and Lalit Modi.
His remarks “Nirav Modi, Lalit Modi, Narendra Modi. How come all the thieves have ‘Modi as a common surname?”
Sushil Kumar Modi has filed a suit for Gandhi’s objectionable remarks on “Modi Surname” .
18.04.2019:A Complaint Case was filed by Mr.Sushil Kumar Modi against Mr.Rahul Gandhi in the court of CJM, Patna.The substance of allegation is that Mr. Rahul Gandhi in his election meeting on 13.04.2019 in the Lok Sabha Election, 2019 at Kolar in Karnataka in his speech said “Why all the thieves have surname of Modi” and he cited the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
On 26.04.2019:Cognizance of the offence for “Defamation” punishable under Section 500 of IPC was taken. 06.07.2019: Mr.Rahul Gandhi surrendered in the court of Spl. Judge MLA/MLC, Patna and was granted Bail.accusation for the offence U/S 506 of IPC was explained to him and he pleaded not guilty and claimed to be tried. Deposition of Witness No. 1 Suman Kumar Jha recorded in the court.
This comes after Mr.Rahul Gandhi was convicted by a Sura court over his remarks and disqualified from the Loksabha as an MP. He was subsequently asked to vacate his government-allotted Bungalow.
The Patna Court had summoned him to appear on April, 12 to record his statement.
