New Delhi: September 12,2025- Panic gripped the Delhi High Court on Friday morning after a bomb threat was reported through an email, forcing multiple courtrooms and judges’ chambers to be evacuated. The incident disrupted judicial proceedings, leading to several benches rising abruptly and adjourning matters for the day.
According to police officials, the court received a threatening email around 8:38 am claiming that a blast would take place soon. Acting swiftly, security personnel raised an alert and immediately cordoned off the entire premises. Fire brigade vehicles, ambulances, and bomb disposal squads were rushed to the spot as part of precautionary measures.
Unusual scenes were witnessed inside the High Court complex as lawyers, litigants, and court staff were asked to vacate the building. Multiple benches suspended hearings mid-session, leaving corridors filled with anxious advocates and litigants waiting outside the premises.
A senior Delhi Police officer speaking to judicial quest news network confirmed that a PCR call was also received soon after the email threat, and search operations were launched across the court premises. “Every chamber, courtroom, and public space is being thoroughly checked by the bomb disposal team and sniffer dogs,” the officer said, adding that security arrangements had been significantly heightened.
Police sources indicated that the email threat is under investigation, and cyber teams are working to trace its origin.
