Khuda Hafiz Chapter 2 is all set to release in the theatres on July,8 after the producers of the film assured the BHC that the necessary changes suggested by Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) will be carried out.
The Film was produced by Cinergy, Panorama Studios and Zee Studios.
A division bench of Justices SV Gangapurwala and SM Modak heard the petition filed by many Islamic organizations including the All India Idara-e-Tahfuz-e-Hussainiyat, that objected to the negative portrayal of Zanjeer Zani in the film’s trailer.
Zanjeer Zani is an Act of self-infliction during the Islamic month of Moharram in the name of Imam Hussain the grandson of Prophet Mohammed, who was martyred in Karbala (Now in Iraq, in 61 Hijri)
The petitioners through Advocates S.J.A.Nadeem, and Mukesh Dongre sought to withhold and remove audio content containing matam in any form and also usage of Imam Husain’s name in the movie.
Advocate Advait Sethna counsel for CBFC informed the court that the board had already acted on the petitioner’s complaint and suggested certain changes to the film.
The film to be released on July, 8 hurts religious sentiments of petitioner and depicts their religious acts of Muharram rituals in a bad taste because of which the petitioners and the community sentiments are hurt.
The counsel for CBFC informed the court that the word “hussain” was replaced from the film with “Junoon” and also deleted the scene wherein the particular blade used for Zanjeer Ka Matam, is portrayed in a negative light.
“The learned Counsel for Respondent Nos.12 to 15, 9 to 11 and 17, on instructions, submit that based on the complaints made by the Petitioners and received by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), the CBFC has directed the changes to be made under their revised certificate dated 1st July 2022.”
The learned Counsel for Respondent Nos.12 to 15, so also Respondent Nos.9 to 11 and 17, on instructions, submit that the changes in the film as per the revised certificate dated 1st July 2022 of CBFC has been carried out and that the movie, on 8th July 2022, shall be released as per the revised certificate dated 1st July 2022, so also, the trailer would be suitably modified. The undertaking is accepted.
With an undertaking that all the changes, including those the trailer, would be reflected by the time the film released, the Bombay High Court disposed of the petition.
