CBI Files a Supplementary Chargesheet Against an Accused in a Case Related To Certain Allegations Including Rape of a Victim

The Central Bureau of Investigation has today filed a supplementary charge sheet in the Court of Special Chief Judicial Magistrate, Bhubaneswar (Odisha) against an accused on certain allegations including rape of a victim.
CBI had registered a case on 05.03.1999 on the Orders dated 26.02.1999 of High Court of Orissa and taken over the investigation of the case No.3/1999 dated 10.01.1999, earlier registered at Mahila Police Station, Cuttack. It was alleged that the victim was going to Cuttack in a taxi. It was further alleged that on the Barang Road, they were intercepted by three miscreants. It was also alleged that the said miscreants over-powered the taxi and took them to an isolated place. It was further alleged that the accused allegedly molested the Prosecutrix in the car, dragged her to the nearby field and allegedly raped her.
After investigation, a chargesheet was filed by CBI against two accused, namely Pradeep Kumar Sahoo and Dhirendra Mohanty on 05.05.1999. Both the accused were sentenced to undergo Life Imprisonment during April, 2002 by the Designated Court, Bhubaneswar.
The said third accused was absconding. He was arrested on 22.02.2021 and sent to Judicial Custody by the Court. After further investigation, CBI filed a supplementary chargesheet in the Court of Special CJM, Bhubaneswar today.
The public is reminded that the above findings are based on the investigation done by CBI and evidence collected by it. Under the Indian Law, the accused are presumed to be innocent till their guilt is finally established after a fair trial.
