Plea Filed in Bombay High Court Seeks A Direction to Maharashtra Govt. BMC To Provide Door-To-Door COVID-19 Vaccination

A PIL has been moved before Bombay High Court seeking a direction to the Centre, Maharashtra government and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to provide door-to-door facility to ensure advanced age above 75 years or physically challenged or bed ridden and are unable to go out of their houses to get vaccinated.

It is further submitted that petitioners received calls from the citizens who are completely are bed ridden and are unable to reach out to the vaccine centre due to age and health issues and is wanting to get vaccinated.

These people are at advanced age of above 75 + and have no strength to go Covid-19 vaccine centre. Senior citizens don’t even know how to register online and are unable to book appointments without those mandatory documents as needed and due to which they are unable to get vaccinated.

Upon knowledge of this issues faced by senior citizens the petitioners has addressed a letter 25th march 2021 to the local MLA Mr. Amin Patel of Mumba Devi Constituency Petitioner No. resides and socially works and requested him look into this matter carefully and also requested him to address the said letter to Hon’ble Chief Minister and Hon’ble Municipal Commissioner to see the suggestions if they can be implemented for the benefit of citizens .No doubt there will be extra efforts added more expenditure but it is necessary to make such facilities like pick up drop services, ambulances or door to door facility for the comforting the exceptional category of people who are medically not in a position to move out.

The Petition is filed by Advocates Dhruti Kapadia and Kunal Tiwari

The authorities cloud fix charges of around Rs.500 to provide the door-to-door vaccination facility, it stated.

A division bench of Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice GS Kulkarni is likely to hear the plea next week.
