SC to Consider plea for CBI probe into assembly of people at Markaz and Anand Vihar Bus terminal in Delhi

A PIL has been filed in Supreme Court for a CBI probe into the assembly of people at Delhi’s Anand Vihar’s bus Terminal and Nizamuddin Markaz after the lockdown was imposed due to COVID-19 pandemic.
The plea filed by Advocate – on – Record OmPrakash Parihar and Advocate Dushyant Tiwari on behalf of the Advocate Supriya Pandita,
The petitioner seeks for an investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the matter related to the assembly of people at Anand Vihar Bus and Markaz in Nizamuddin as the respondent no.5 failed to control the people and the Nizamuddin Markaz chief Maulana Saad is still not arrested till now.
The PIL Challenges the inaction of the Delhi government “in failing to stop the spread of the coronavirus in the capital” and states that it is due to the negligience of the government that “Corona has spread to the rest of the country which is antithesis to the Article 21 of the constitution”.
“On the fourth day of the lockdown, tens of thousands of migrant workers from Bihar Utter Pradesh who were working in Delhi assembled outside the Anand Vihar Bus Terminal, Delhi elbowing each other to board the first available bus that would take them to their hometown orvillage,these workers were stopped by Respondent No.5 and no action was taken by Respondent no .2 and 3 in order to stop these workers from coming out of their houses.”
While calling for a CBI probe into the gathering of people at the bus terminal,the plea cites a news report quoting BJP leader Kapil Mishra as saying,
“The government of NCT of Delhi has made announcements in the colonies where UP-BIHAR migrants are staying in Delhi informing them that Delhi Government-run DTC buses will take them to Anand Vihar bus terminal”
The petitioner also contended that scenario of the COVID-19 outbreak in Nizamuddin, stated that “all social distancing rules were ignored as hundreds stayed together in the 100-year-old mosque Complex.
The COVID-19 was detected on March 30 in Delhi after the 24 people who attended the Markaz in Nizamuddin tested positive for COVID-19. More than 2000 delegates from Malaysia, Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan and other countries took part in the congregation.
The Court put the matter for consideration after two weeks.
