, October,2026-A Delhi Special Executive Magistrate’s Court has remanded Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka to five days of judicial custody, following their preventive arrest over an alleged attempt to enter Jantar Mantar. Another party leader, Ajinkya Shinde, has been released on a personal bond, according to the report.

The arrests followed an incident on October 13, when the group allegedly attempted to access Jantar Mantar, which had been de-notified as a protest site the previous day. According to the allegations reported, members of the group climbed over locked gates and police barricades while carrying the Indian flag and raising slogans. Security personnel intercepted them.

Delhi Police registered a First Information Report against the three leaders and others in connection with the incident.

The reported allegations include unlawful assembly and disobedience of an order promulgated by a public servant. These remain allegations the custody order does not amount to a finding of guilt.

The three leaders were detained on October 13 and taken to Jaffarpur Kalan Police Station. In the early hours of October 14, they were moved to Parliament Street Police Station, ahead of their expected production before the magistrate.

The report also notes that the CJP leaders had previously been detained after arriving in Delhi to protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

They were later released by an Executive Magistrate, subject to furnishing a statutory bond undertaking that they would not breach the peace or do anything likely to occasion such a breach. Judicial custody is a procedural measure and should not be read as a determination of the accused persons’ guilt.
