White Ribbons, One Minute of Silence: SCBA To Stand In Solidarity With Advocates Over Alleged Police Mistreatment

(By Syed Ali Taher Abedi)

12, October,2026-The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) Executive Committee has called on members of the Bar to wear white ribbons as a mark of solidarity with advocates who were reportedly mistreated by Delhi Police during protests held on October 10 against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

As part of the initiative, SCBA members have been requested to assemble before the Gandhi statue on Tuesday, October 13, at 1:15 p.m.

They will observe a one-minute silence in solidarity with the advocates concerned, according to the report.

The Association’s decision gives members a collective, symbolic means of expressing concern over the treatment of lawyers during the protest.

The white ribbon is to be pinned to members’ coats, while the moment of silence is intended as a public gesture of support for colleagues in the legal community.

The report describes the incident as involving advocates who were “mistreated” by police; it does not set out further details of the alleged conduct or indicate that any judicial finding has been made
