Telangana High Court Advocates’ Association Seeks Major Welfare, Representation Measures; CM Assures Positive Consideration

Hyderabad: 11, August,2026 – A delegation of the Telangana High Court Advocates’ Association, led by its President, S. Surender Reddy, called on the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Telangana Mr. Revanth Reddy today and expressed its gratitude for the enactment of the Telangana Advocates Protection Act.
During the meeting, the delegation submitted a detailed representation urging the State Government to take necessary steps for the protection, welfare and professional advancement of advocates practising in the State.
The Association also placed before the Chief Minister several issues concerning judicial appointments, government legal representation, medical insurance, financial assistance to junior advocates and infrastructural facilities for members of the Bar.
The Association requested the Chief Minister to impress upon the concerned authorities the need to consider advocates of Telangana origin for elevation to the Bench of the High Court for the State of Telangana.
It was submitted that due representation should be ensured to eligible advocates belonging to Telangana in the process of appointment to the higher judiciary.
The delegation further urged the State Government to consider advocates of Telangana origin for appointment as Special Government Pleaders, Government Pleaders, Assistant Government Pleaders and Standing Counsel in the High Court, so that the interests of the State Government may be effectively represented by members having professional familiarity with the State’s legal and administrative framework.
Health Insurance for All Eligible Advocates
A significant demand placed before the Chief Minister related to extending health insurance coverage to all eligible advocates enrolled with the Bar, including advocates enrolled after 2019.
The Association requested the Government to allocate an additional amount of Rs. 200 crores for the purpose.
The delegation also sought enhancement of the existing health insurance coverage for advocates from Rs. 2 lakhs to Rs. 5 lakhs, stating that the proposed increase would provide greater financial security to advocates and their families in the event of serious illness, hospitalisation or other medical contingencies.
Monthly Stipend for Junior Advocates
The Association also called upon the Government to provide a monthly stipend of Rs. 10,000 to junior advocates.
It submitted that young members of the Bar often face considerable financial hardship during the initial years of practice and that institutional support would enable them to continue in the profession with dignity and greater stability.
The delegation further requested the allotment of suitable land for the construction of a High Court Advocates’ Conference Hall and for the establishment of a High Court Advocates’ Housing Society.
The proposed facilities, it was stated, would promote the professional, social and residential welfare of advocates practising before the High Court.
The Hon’ble Chief Minister responded positively to the representations and assured the delegation that the issues raised by the Association would be duly considered by the Government.
The representation was submitted by S. Surender Reddy, President; D. L. Pandu, Vice-President; P. Shravan Kumar Goud, Secretary; Niranjan Reddy K., Secretary; Ms. P. Krishna Keertana, Joint Secretary; B. Balaji, Treasurer; and Vishnu Vardhan Jayasurya, Sports and Cultural Secretary.
Executive Committee members Konda Reddy J., Ms. Shila G., Ms. Bhargavi K., Aravind Kumar G., Pool Singh R. and Ravi P. were also present and participated in the submission of the representation.
