Supreme Court Flags Off ‘Justice to All’ Run, Championing Mediation and Green Awareness

In a powerful convergence of legal conscience, civic responsibility, and environmental commitment, the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) on Sunday successfully hosted the inaugural ‘Justice for All’ Run/Walkathon and Tree Plantation Drive in the national capital. The event brought together members of the legal fraternity and citizens from diverse walks of life, creating a landmark moment of collective resolve toward strengthening justice delivery and protecting the environment.

The occasion was graced by Chief Justice of India BR Gavai Chief Justices and Judges of various High Courts, senior advocates, and distinguished members of the Bar. Their presence lent the initiative both moral authority and symbolic weight, underscoring that justice, in its truest form, extends far beyond courtroom walls.
A Living Promise of Justice
Addressing the gathering, SCBA leaders described the event as a “symbolic call to action”, reminding the nation that justice is not merely a judicial pronouncement but a continuing promise owed to every citizen. The initiative sought to highlight a painful reality: delays in justice delivery erode public trust, burden courts, and deny citizen’s meaningful closure.
The ‘Justice for All’ initiative aims to redefine justice as a process that must be timely, accessible, and satisfactory, placing renewed emphasis on Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms such as mediation and conciliation.

Mediation Takes Centre Stage
SCBA President Vikas Singh, under whose leadership the event was organized, delivered a thought-provoking message. He noted that even if courts were to decide every pending case, the system would still fall short of delivering true justice.
“When a case is decided, the winning side may feel it has received justice, but the losing side seldom does. True justice emerges through mediation, where both parties are heard and solutions are shaped through consensus rather than conflict,” Singh said.
He stressed that the spirit of give-and-take must become central to litigation, and that judges, lawyers, and litigants must work collectively to transform the justice system into one that heals rather than divides.
Environmental Commitment Through Tree Plantation
Following the Run/Walkathon, participants joined a large-scale tree plantation drive—an act symbolizing the enduring nature of public service and the legal fraternity’s responsibility toward future generations. The green initiative reinforced the belief that justice must be sustainable, not only in law but also in the stewardship of natural resources.
Mass Participation and Broad Support
The event drew nearly 2,000 participants, including students, legal professionals, and enthusiastic citizens. It received robust institutional support from Amity University, Tata Power, DDL, IFFCO Tokio, Jindal Steel, ONGC, and PowerGrid, whose contributions helped bring the initiative to life.
A Step Toward a More Humane Justice System
The SCBA’s ‘Justice for All’ initiative stands as a timely reminder that India’s justice delivery framework must evolve from a purely adversarial system to one that embraces dialogue, cooperation, and empathy. By blending physical fitness, environmental responsibility, and legal reform messaging, the event marked a historic moment of public-centred justice advocacy.
