Major Breakthrough in Temple Robbery Cases Under Ibrahimpatnam and Abdullapurmet Police Limits

Hyderabad, July 2, 2025 — Acting on credible intelligence information and under the direction of Rachakonda Police Commissioner G. Sudheer Babu, IPS, officers from CCS LB Nagar and Ibrahimpatnam Police apprehended three individuals involved in a series of temple and idol thefts spanning multiple villages in Maheshwaram Zone. The arrests were made early Wednesday morning at Mangalpally X Road.

The Accused: Karacha Sivananda, 52, labourer from Vanasthalipuram (native of Kurnool), Shaik Ham Shareef, 38, transient worker based in LB Nagar (native of Prakasam District), Akkapalli Kranthi Kumar, 31, scrap dealer from Uppal — identified as the receiver of the stolen artifacts

 Timeline of Crimes: Feb 27: Theft of four temple bells from Gandlaguda (Yacharam Mandal), June 15: Theft of ornaments from Mallanna Swamy Temple, Upparaguda June 24: Stolen motorcycle from Uppal June 29: Theft of seven Panchaloha and silver idols from Hanuman Temple (Saddupally) and Ayyappa Swamy Temple (Dandumailaram), June 30: Break-in at Shiva Ganga and Hanuman Temples in Polkampally; eight idols and a gold Mangal sutra stolen. The stolen items were allegedly sold to the scrap dealer for ₹18,500, with the total recovered property valued at ₹5,36,300.

Criminal Background: Sivananda has a criminal record with previous theft cases in Warangal, Meerpet, and Nagole, Shareef had no prior offenses Both are now linked to seven active cases across Yacharam, Ibrahimpatnam, Abdullapurmet, and Uppal police stations

 Commendation: Commissioner Sudheer Babu lauded the swift work of the officers involved. Teams from CCS LB Nagar and Ibrahimpatnam PS, including Inspectors, Sub-Inspectors, and Constables, were recognized for their coordination and effective investigation that led to the arrests and recovery
