New Delhi – The Supreme Court Advocates-on-Record Association (SCAORA) has passed a strongly worded resolution condemning recent remarks made by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, in which he blamed the Chief Justice of India (CJI) for all civil unrest in the country.

In a unanimous resolution passed by its executive committee, SCORA described the MP’s comments as “factually baseless, deeply disturbing,” and an “unwarranted attack on the independence, dignity, and majesty” of India’s highest constitutional court.

“These statements are not only irresponsible in nature but also seek to undermine the judicial authority in the eyes of the public,” the resolution noted. It emphasized that such rhetoric threatens the very foundation of India’s democratic structure, which rests on the independence of the judiciary.

Mr. Nikhil Jain, SCAORA Secretary, speaking on behalf of the association, reaffirmed that while disagreement with judicial decisions is a constitutional right, it must be voiced within the bounds of dignity, constitutional decorum, and legal propriety.

“It is a fundamental tenet of our democracy that the judiciary remains independent and respected as a pillar of the Constitution,” the resolution stated. “Scandalous, derogatory, and inflammatory language against the Hon’ble Chief Justice and the institution of the Supreme Court—especially for personal or political mileage—is wholly uncalled for and sets a dangerous precedent.”

SCAORA warned that such comments could erode public faith in the rule of law and the judiciary’s integrity. The association called upon all public representatives to exercise restraint, uphold constitutional values, and respect the dignity of the judiciary.

“We stand in solidarity with the Hon’ble Chief Justice of India and the institution of the Supreme Court in the face of such irresponsible and damaging rhetoric,” the resolution concluded.

The resolution was passed with majority support from SCAORA President Mr. Vipin.Nair, Secretary Mr. Nikhil Jain, Joint Treasurer Mr. Vishal Prasad, and executive members Ms. Reena Pandey, Dr. Meenakshi, Ms. Aastha Sharma, Mr. Aditya Giri, and Mr. A. Selvin Raja.
