Hyderabad,21, February,2025. In a significant move, the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) Hyderabad Zonal Office has provisionally attached three immovable properties worth approximately ₹1.27 Crore on February 20, 2025, under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The assets are linked to P Sai Komareswar, a former Executive Engineer at CPWD, Hyderabad, and his wife, Smt. P Padmavathi, who are under investigation for possessing disproportionate assets.

The case stems from an FIR and chargesheet filed by the ACB, CBI, Hyderabad, involving allegations of bribe-taking and the accumulation of illicit wealth. While serving as an Executive Engineer, Komareswar was allegedly involved in a bribery trap with a contractor. Following a raid, CBI seized ₹30.5 lakh in cash, incriminating documents, and a locker key from his residence.

ED’s probe revealed that the couple had swiftly acquired four immovable properties, with part payments made in cash and through unsecured loans from individuals. Despite holding liquid assets worth ₹1.39 Crore in shares, the couple failed to justify the seized cash or provide details of the loan sources. The ED found that these loans were used to disguise the illicit origins of the properties.

As a result, the ED has attached three properties valued at ₹1.26 Crore under PMLA. Investigations are ongoing.
