Investiture Ceremony for the 92nd Batch Of CBI Sub-Inspectors: Director Praveen Sood Urges Young Officers To Prioritize Organizational Excellence

On October 16, 2024, the Investiture Ceremony for the 92nd Batch of Sub-Inspectors of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) was held at the CBI Academy in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. The event was graced by Mr. Praveen Sood, Director of the CBI, who served as the Chief Guest.

In his address, Mr. Sood congratulated the newly appointed officers and their families for successfully completing an intensive training program that encompassed a wide range of investigative skills, including modern tools and techniques. He praised the dedicated staff at the CBI Academy for their efforts in honing the capabilities of these young officers. Notably, he highlighted the increasing representation of female officers within the agency, considering it a positive development for the CBI’s diverse composition.

Mr. Sood encouraged the officers to apply the skills they acquired during their training to further the CBI’s mission as a premier investigative body. He stressed that their primary focus should be on the organizational goals and that their real learning journey would commence as they engage in practical investigations and prosecutions. The Director urged the officers to view challenges and setbacks as valuable opportunities for growth and skill enhancement.

Moreover, Mr. Sood emphasized the significance of maintaining integrity and impartiality in their work. He advised against seeking validation through external channels like social media, instead encouraging them to derive inspiration from the CBI’s core values of Industry, Impartiality, and Integrity. He also reminded officers and their families to be prepared for postings across India and underscored the importance of working smart—utilizing their skills effectively to achieve results with minimal effort.

The ceremony also featured the distribution of medals and trophies to outstanding trainees. Mr. Srivathsan V was honoured with the “DP Kohli Award for Best All-Round SI Trainee” and the “DCBI Trophy for Indoor Studies.” Ms. Raj Kiran received the “Trophy for Cyber Crime Investigation,” while Mr.  Vimal Singh Adhikari was awarded the “John Lobo Trophy for Best Outdoor.” Ms. Megha Parashar was recognized with the “CBI Academy Trophy for Dedication and Exemplary Conduct.”

The new Sub-Inspectors underwent eight months of rigorous training, having joined the academy on February 12, 2024, after being selected through the SSC (Combined Graduate Level Examination) and LDCE. Their comprehensive curriculum included training in Law and Investigative Skills, Anti-Corruption Case Investigations, various types of conventional crimes, intelligence collection, economic offenses, cyber-crime, bank fraud, and forensic techniques. Trainees also gained hands-on experience through engagements with District Police Units and visits to institutions such as the National Forensic Sciences University, Intelligence Bureau, Securities and Exchange Board of India, and various banks.

The ceremony was attended by several senior CBI officials, including Ms. Sampat Meena, Additional Director; Mr.Manoj Shashidhar, Additional Director; Mr. N. Venugopal, Additional Director; Mr. A.Y.V. Krishna, Additional Director; and Dr. Padmini Singh, Director of Prosecution, along with other departmental officers and local administration representatives.
